Why did you do your boudoir shoot?
My size has not always been what it is now. Over the past few years, I've faced challenges trying to return to a size and shape that I find comfortable. Despite having people in my life who consistently tell me I am beautiful; I've struggled to see that reflected in the mirror. Inspired by a dear friend who spoke highly of how a boudoir shoot boosted her self-confidence, I decided to take a leap of faith and see if it could have a similar impact on me.
What did doing this shoot do for your self confidence, self worth, and self image? Tell me your story.
At 33, I am a divorced woman and a mother to a 13-year-old (yes, I became a mother at 20). Reflecting on my past marriage, I now recognize the emotional abuse I endured. It led to unhealthy habits, neglecting my body, mind, and soul through overeating. My ex-husband controlled every aspect of my life—what I said, did, who I associated with, and even my meals. Fortunately, I divorced him in 2019 and am now with an amazing man who cares for and nourishes my heart, mind, and soul. I've been on a roller coaster journey to "get skinny," but I've come to the realization that perhaps the real journey is towards health, love, and self-acceptance. I made the choice to capture this moment, allowing me to see and love myself for who I am and I encourage every woman to do so as well. I cannot wait to capture the moment after I have reached the end of this first journey of health.
What was the best part of your experience? Would you change anything?
Every moment of the experience was enjoyable, and I wouldn't alter a thing about it. Elle was not only comforting but also relatable. It felt like she worked some magic with that camera. And the laughter was what brought me out of my shell! Elle helped capture my essence in every portrait and I cannot wait to work with her again.
